Most color theories are based on a circular arrangement of the hues in a chromatic order or sequence. They may be viewed as a circle, wheel, or sphere […]. This circular format allows relationships between each hue to be expressed in a concise visual manner. […] Philosophically, the circle represents a continuum: we don't think of color as ending, but as being ongoing, so the circle adds to the poetic notion of color.
