There are many things that can affect color perception. […] There are only a very few people who are truly color blind, and we call them monochromatics. These people have only one type of cone: it treats all wavelenghts of light the same and sends the brain faulty information, so that they only perceive shades of grey. If you want to experience this condition, dim the lights in a room until you can no longer see any hues, just shades.
