When we look at an apple and observe its bright red color, what we are seeing are the reflected light waves. There are two parts that make up a reflection or the bouncing of light waves from a given surface [...]. The incident beam comes from the light source hitting the object. The reflected beam bounces off the object and allows us to see its particular hue. When the surface is smooth, these light waves bounce off or are reflected in an even manner. With a rough surface, the reflected beams bounce off and are scattered in many different directions.
